One photo from our first day in Santorini. The ferry ride from Mykonos was about two and half hours, arrived around 5:30PM. It was long one hour ride from port to hotel, especially for Tim since he barely got on the bus. He was standing on the last step of the bus against the door. However, two more tourists managed to squeeze into that same space at the next stop. The bus was packed by tourists hoping to catch the famous sunset in Ia -- sunset rush hour.
Santorini was originally a circular island, but after a volcanic eruption, the center of the island sank into the sea. What remains is high above the sea. The side of the island formed by the collapse is known as the caldera.
The road to the main port makes many turns as it snakes up to the rest of the island.
