Shanghai - November 2009
We left the snow and some of the cold of Xi'an behind when we arrived in Shanghai. We took the new maglev train from the Pudong Airport to the city. Its speed normally tops out at 431 km/hr. It travels the 7km between the airport and Shanghai in about 7 minutes.
Unfortunately, once we arrived in the city, we found that the weather was still less than great. Our first full day in Shanghai had steady rain. The remaining days had a damp chill in addition to the wind. We took comfort in the amazingly cheap massages available within blocks of where we were staying. We tried the foot massage that included food and drink with the price of the massage. On another day, we went to a hair place where they wash your hair and then rub your head, upper back and arms for about an hour. On yet another day, we took advantage of a full body massage at another local place.
From Shanghai, we took a flight to Beijing.
